KJPAS 2012 Summer Performing Arts Camps
Greetings from the Artistic Director
Dear Performing Arts Camper,
I am thrilled to share with you that once again, KJPAS is raising the bar for performing arts camps in the Roanoke Valley! This summer we are moving our camps to the beautiful rural setting of Camp Bethel (30 minutes north of downtown Roanoke). Our camps are now honored to be accredited by the American Camping Association! The Elementary camp will be changing from a half-day program to a full-day program (with lunch included each day), and the middle and high school camps will become residential overnight camps! While this may be a “new” direction for KJPAS summer performing arts camps, it is not new to us. Kevin served as the program director for several years at Camp Robin Hood in Toronto (the largest camp in Canada -800 children and 200 staff members on-site each day). Melia served as the musical director at Camp Eder in Pennsylvania, and attended Camp Mack for many years.
Our camps are what I like to call The Real Deal. We present real scenes and musical numbers from real Broadway plays and musicals. We help kids from our camps get cast in real theatrical productions and real television commercials, print ads, and films. Just look at our sampling of alumni on this website. 2012 Showcase performances will feature songs from the Golden Age of Broadway (pre-1965) and scenes by one of Broadways’ funniest playwrights, Ken Ludwig

New for 2012: FREE online registration (no PayPal credit card fee’s), FREE DVD of Camp Showcase Performance; FREE Camp T-Shirt; Elementary camp becomes a full-day camp with lunch and snack provided FREE of charge; middle school and high school camps become overnight residential camps will all meals provided!! All camps feature a FREE camper/parent dinner at camp on the Friday evening prior to the 7pm showcase performance.
