KJPAS 2010 Summer Performing Arts Camp Staff
Kevin Jones serves as the artistic director of the Summer Performing Arts Camps. He has worked professionally for eighteen years as both an actor and a musical director. His credits include the Broadway first national tour of Beauty and the Beast, the Asian tour of Annie, The European Tour of Annie Get Your Gun, three productions of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Evita, and two of Phantom. Locally, he worked on twelve shows at Mill Mountain Theatre, serves as the artistic director for Kimoyo, and choreographs for the Roanoke College Children's Choir. Kevin continues to work professionally as an actor, filming commercials and print ads (he can currently be seen on all of the networks in the Tanglewood Mall commercial!). Welcome to our 12th annual camps!
Melia Jones - Director and Choreographer for all camps. Melia is a singer / actress / dancer / costumer / artist. She has dozens of professional performing credits but her favorites include Evita, The Sound of Music, A Chorus Line, and Phantom. Locally she has booked commercials for Kroger, Advanced Auto Parts, Lewis-Gale and Cox Cable. She has built costumes for the Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre, Hershey Park and Mill Mountain Theatre. Melia owns a decorative painting business, Murals etc. by Melia and recently painted the background for the new HD studios at WDBJ-7 News here in Roanoke!
Mary Jane Houdina - choreographer for the high school camp. was associate choreographer for the movie
The Great Gatsby; tap consultant for Peter Allen at Radio City Music Hall; on Broadway she was associate choreographer for the original production of
Annie, and choreographer for Into the Light. Regional theatres have seen her work in a myriad of musicals, including
Oklahoma!, Follies and Showboat, with such stars as Jean Stapleton, Juliet Prowse and Gavin MacLeod. She danced in ten Broadway shows, as well as in Peter Gennaro’s night club act. She is the 1998 Barrymore Award recipient for her choreography for
Crazy for You at the Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia, and a Barrymore nominee for her 2001 choreography there for
Singin’ in the Rain. She has received stellar reviews for her choreography and staging of
Annie at the Allenberry Playhouse in Pennsylvania, Follies at Maine State Music Theatre,
Annie, Annie Warbucks , 42nd Street and most recently,
Oliver (Christmas 2009) at the Walnut Street Theatre.
Collette Riddle - Director for all camps. Collette, KJPAS Alumni, is a rising sophomore music theatre BFA major at Catawba College in NC, is very excited to be returning to work at KJPAS. KJPAS Credits include
Broadway Invasion and Broadway Showstoppers. Other performance credits include Mill Mountain’s
Oliver! and Soup, Soap, and Salvation and Showtimers’
Big River and Sound of Music. Performance aside, Collette enjoys all aspects of theatre and cannot wait to direct this summer!
Bill Harker - Director for the middle school camp. Bill returns for his 11th year of KJPAS camps where he has previously served as our stage manager. A true renaissance man, Bill resides in St. Augustine, Florida.
Jaime McWilliams - stage manager for the elementary and high school camps. Jaime McWilliams is a rising junior theatre major concentrating in Design/Technical and Acting at Christopher Newport University and loves every minute of it. She is a PHHS and KJPAS alumna and this will be her 8th year at KJPAS Summer Performing Arts Camps. Jaime is the newly elected Secretary for Alpha Psi Omega, the national honors theatre fraternity. In her spare time, Jaime enjoys playing guitar, writing film reviews, and blogging.
Lauren Harris - serves as the camp intern for the elementary and middle school camps. She has been studying dance at Ardell Stone School of Dancing for fourteen years and has been a member of the Kevin Jones Performing Arts Studio for five years. Credits include the title role in
Cinderella, Jekyll and Hyde, The Sound of Music,
Children of Eden, Broadway Showstoppers and
Broadway on Thin Ice.
Nic Wilder
- Tech Crew for middle school and high school camps. Nic currently attends Wesleyan University with a major in Biochemistry. When not in the lab, he performs in an a capella group titled
Waiting in Line, and dabbles in break dancing whenever he gets the chance. In addition to appearing in several one act plays, his roles include Bob Baker in
Wonderful Town, and Tobias Ragg in Sweeney Todd. Needless to say, he is very excited for this summer!
Amy Nance-Pearman - Camp Headshot Photographer for all camps. Amy returns to KJPAS for her fifth year to photograph all of the camp headshots. Amy has worked as a professional photographer in a commercial studio for ten years. As a model she has booked both runway and print ads including work for Timberland, Advanced Auto, Foot Levelers and Valley View Mall.
