KJPAS 2008 Summer Performing Arts Camp Staff
Kevin Jones serves as the artistic director of the Summer Performing Arts Camps. He has worked professionally for fifteen years as both an actor and a musical director. His credits include the Broadway first national tour of Beauty and the Beast, the Asian tour of Annie, The European Tour of Annie Get Your Gun, three productions of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Evita, and two of Phantom. Locally, he has done twelve shows at Mill Mountain Theatre, is the artistic director for Kimoyo, choreographs for the Roanoke College Children's Choir, and is the director for the Bonsack Baptist Easter Pageant. Kevin also serves as the director for the Roanoke County Schools’ Center for the Performing Arts at the A.R. Burton Center for Arts and Technology. Kevin continues to work professionally as an actor, filming commercials and print ads. Welcome to our 10th anniversary camps!
Trey Mitchell-Director and Choreographer for the Acting, Musical Theatre and Combo Camps. Trey is a New York based actor/singer/dancer who is originally from Roanoke! He was last seen nationally as The Cat in the Hat in “Seussical” and as Frank Lippencott in the first national tour of “Wonderful Town” (directed by the current resident director of “The Lion King,” Jen Bender, and choreographed by Broadway’s Joyce Chittick, an original cast member of “Wonderful Town” and associate choreographer to Kathleen Marshall on “Grease”). Trey was recently a part of Northern Stage’s program “Project Playwright 2008” and has been a frequent cast member for Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre in Virginia. In fact, he received a BFA in Music Theatre from Shenandoah Conservatory and also studied at the North Carolina School of the Arts. Trey can now be seen and heard as part of the new pop group, NFusion, in association with the Kid Concoctions Company (and creators John and Danita Thomas), Half Pint Productions, and PBS’s pledge programming (Check it out at www.myspace.com/kcnfusion or www.kidconcoctions.com). NFusion has released a Twelve Track CD and a DVD complete with 3 music videos featuring Kid Concoctions products (CD was written by “Little Women” composer Jason Howland and Broadway actress/producer Dani Davis, with chief album production by Billy Jay Stein). Trey’s next project is playing Larry Washburn in his first SAG feature film, “Dumping Lisa,” written by Rich Docherty, an Emmy award winning documentary filmmaker and directed by John Oliver, a two time Emmy award winner for producing. Trey is represented by Harden-Curtis Associates of New York City and is a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association. Trey was a camper at the very first KJPAS summer performing arts camp, and has spent two summers at the camps working as a director/choreographer.
Melia Jones - Director and Choreographer for all camps. Melia is a singer / actress / dancer / costumer / artist. She has dozens of professional performing credits but her favorites include Evita, The Sound of Music, A Chorus Line, and Phantom. Locally she has booked commercials for Kroger, Advanced Auto Parts, Lewis-Gale and Cox Cable. She has built costumes for the Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre, Hershey Park and Mill Mountain Theatre. Melia owns a decorative painting business, Murals etc. by Melia and recently painted the background for the new HD studios at WDBJ-7 News here in Roanoke!
Katie Mitchell - Director for all camps. Katie has attended Kevin's summer camps since their inception in 1999 and began working at the camps in 2004. Directing credits include Marymount Manhattan's The Inspector General (Assistant Director), the Directing Project Foreplay: The Art of the Fugue (Assistant Director), and Lord Botetourt High School's Empire Records (Director). She also served as the assistant director and stage manager for Broadway Invasion! Broadway Rocks! and On Off-Broadway.
Meghan Kelleher - Director and Choreographer for the Combo Camp. Meghan is excited to be back in the Star City after spending the last year touring the nation with Theatre IV in Jack and the Beanstalk, Christmas Carol and Huck and Tom. In Roanoke she has both taught and acted at Mill Mountain Theatre. Favorite Credits: A Funny Thing.., Oliver!, and Annie Get Your Gun. Other Professional Credits: West Side Story (Wohlfahrt Haus), You're A Good Man… (Blue Ridge Theatre), and Tom Sawyer (Prairie Fire Theatre). She graduated from Emory & Henry (BA Musical Theatre) where she played her favorite role to date: Little Sally in Urinetown! and also directed for the Washington County Schools. She will spend next year performing at the Merry Go Round Playhouse in New York. Meghan is a graduate of the 2003 KJPAS Ensemble, served previously as an assistant at KJPAS camps and workshops and is thrilled to return this summer!
Bill Harker - Stage Manager for Musical Theatre and Combo Camps. Bill will return for his eighth season as our illustrious stage manager. He is a graduate of Flagler College and is a true “Renaissance Man”. Bill resides in St. Augustine, Florida.
Kenzie Conner - Choreographer for Creative Drama Camp; Assistant Choreographer for Combo Camp. Kenzie has been dancing since birth, and has served as Kevin’s dance captain for many productions including Broadway Rocks! and Broadway Invasion. Kenzie will be heading to The University of Central Florida in the fall to continue her musical theatre studies.



Jaime McWilliams - Stage Manager for the acting camp and Administrative Rehearsal Assistant for all other camps. Jaime is a graduate of the KJPAS Ensemble and has attended the KJPAS summer performing arts camps for the past six years. She will be heading to Christopher Newport University in the fall to continue her musical theatre studies.




Richie MacLeod - Administrative Rehearsal Assistant for all camps. Richie is a graduate of the KJPAS Ensemble and has attended the KJPAS summer performing arts camps for the past six years. He will be heading to the University of Virginia in the fall to continue his musical theatre studies.





Amy Nance-Pearman - Camp Headshot Photographer for all camps. Amy returns to KJPAS for her fifth year to photograph all of the camp headshots. Amy has worked as a professional photographer in a commercial studio for ten years. As a model she has booked both runway and print ads including work for Timberland, Advanced Auto, Foot Levelers and Valley View Mall.





Rena Cromer - Props Elective Director for all camps. Rena has served as the props artisan for many theatre companies including Mill Mountain Theatre. She currently works at WDBJ-7 news.
