KJPAS 25th Annual Summer Acting and Musical Theater Camp/Intensive

As an incentive to register early, we are once again giving away theatrical prizes at the Intensive (think signed souvenir playbills and posters, B'way and Tour swag, theatrical books and more)! So register early and take home a prize! 

Wondering if our program is right for you? Well, we think that our 25 year track-record speaks for itself! Over the years, we have worked with thousands of students from across the USA and Canada, as well as students as far away as England and the Turks and Caicos! Many of our students have gone on to study theater at the college level, and many are having exceptional careers performing on stage (Broadway and beyond), and in film and television; or behind the scenes as agents, casting directors, stage managers, and voice-over talent.  

KJPAS employs a professional faculty of performers each year, many who have Broadway and national touring credits, as well as film and television credits. Past faculty have included Mackenzie Mauzy, Mary Jane Houdina, Kathy Conry, Michael Fatica, Ryan Breslin, Tony D'Alelio, Vikki Schnurr, Milton Granger, Josh Grisetti, Michele Ragusa, Paul Valley, Amy Justman, Joseph Melendez and many more. KJPAS Summer Camp/Intensive 2024 will take place from 1:30pm, on Friday, June 7th thru 5pm, on Sunday, June 9th. The showcase performance will begin at 4pm on Sunday, June 9th. We will once again be running our Intensive out of the Smith Mountain Lake 4-H Conference Center, right on the shore of beautiful Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia. 

MAH-NÁ MAH-NÁ!  Our 2024 showcase theme is Muppets on Broadway! And to celebrate our 25th year, we are bringing back the option to be an acting (no singing) or musical theater (all singing and dancing) major! Acting majors will be cast in fantastic scenes and musical theater majors will be cast in blockbuster production numbers, solos and duets from the Muppet movies. You will have the option to select your major in the registration process. Please note: outside of rehearsal time, all students will participate together in group activities. So regardless of your choice of major, you will still have plenty of opportunities to be with your friends. 

​In addition to rehearsing for the big showcase performance, you will also participate in acting/singing/dancing workshops. Evening programming will include "A Night At The Improv" and the "KJPAS Theater Game Night". You will also have the opportunity to participate in "camp" activities including kayaking/canoeing on Smith Mountain Lake, archery, and more. And don't forget about our annual camp-wide scavenger hunt for the missing Tony awards! A fantastic weekend awaits you!

Students will be housed three to four per room in hotel-style lodging (each student will have his or her own single/twin bed), and each room has its own private bathroom and a/c control. The lodge is located next to the Central Activities Building which houses our indoor rehearsal and performance space, as well as the dining hall. Three delicous meals and plenty of snacks will be provided each day. KJPAS proudly caters to all dietary restrictions. 

Tuition includes two nights lodging, all meals (two dinners, two lunches and two breakfasts), plenty of snacks, an Intensive t-shirt, a link to download the showcase performance, and of course, the professional training and performance that you have come to expect from KJPAS! 

The KJPAS Summer Intensive is open to rising 5th thru 12th graders. 

Summer Intensive Tuition: $399 submitted on or before May 1st; $449 submitted May 1st or later. 

Registration will close on June 1st  so that my faculty may prepare for the weekend. 

(Wondering why tuition is higher in the summer than in the winter? In the winter, the 4-H center charges us their discounted "winter rate". And in the summer, we have to pay extra for the "camp" activities as they all come with professionally trained staff)

PLEASE NOTE: You will complete the registration process on this website, but will then make your payment separately using one of the payment options listed below. All tuition payments must be paid in full within TWO (2) days of registering or your registration will be cancelled. YES, the check-out amount on the website will say "$0" and your ticket will say "FREE" because you will be making your payment via a different payment platform AFTER you submit your registration form online.

*Be sure to indicate the name of the student(s) whom you are paying for when you make your payment. If you are registering two students, you may make one single payment for both students. 

**You will receive two separate e-mail confirmations. 1) when your registration form is received; and 2) when your  payment has been received. 

***Welcome packets, with all of the Intensive details, will be sent via email approximately 2 weeks prior to the start of the Intensive.
